DHHS Loading Dock

Installation of a new loading dock for the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner that serves as the intake point for autopsy/examination services for the state of North Carolina.  The existing loading dock did not meet requirements for new cold storage containment, and required a new roof structure, privacy louvers, sprinkler system & loading dock equipment for accessibility.

Challenges

OCME busy operation & intake continued during entire project.  Portions of the work involved operating around a sensitive medical environment.

Fireproofing of structure to meet building code.

Long lead-times on materials & equipment.

Solutions

We were able to demonstrate flexibility with scheduling and adapt to the facility activites.

Worked with the designer to provide technical solution and revised design for fireproofing to meet project requirements.

Ensured adequate time and planning on front-end of schedule to accommodate lengthy delivery windows on specialty materials.

DHHS Loading Dock Renovation exhibits nearly every major trade in a very small area. This project required significant coordination effort between all trades involved.
