This program targets boarded and abandoned properties for inspections, those not repaired by the owner are tagged to be taken to the Housing Appeals Board for approval for City remediation. Owners are held accountable for all remediation costs through liens placed on the property.

The Neighborhood Improvement Services Stabilization Program improves the quality of life in Durham's communities while serving as a vehicle to facilitate neighborhood revitalization. Our mission is to preserve and revitalize neighborhoods in the City by renovating dilapidated eyesore properties. NIS is able to preserve the structural integrity of the neighborhood while preventing further deterioration. <br />
